Top Nonprofit Tools

Working for a nonprofit organization can be one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do.

It can also leave you exhausted and tested in ways you never imagined.

But have no fear! We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite resources that offer great promotions for nonprofits. Give them a try!

The Google Universe

  • We’re a Google shop here. We speak it fluently. But if you didn’t know, Google has a slew of resources available for nonprofits. People think of Google Ads because that’s the most common thing, but that’s not the ONLY thing that nonprofits can access. Google owns YouTube so you can request YouTube ad dollars, advertise on Google Maps, and more.  Oh, and be sure to take advantage of the free or reduced price Google workspace offerings!

Graphic Design

  • Canva: You don’t have to be a graphic designer to use this platform. This design software is accessible whether you’re a novice or a pro. And it has both free and paid plans. There are plenty of free resources, so you don’t need to panic about everything being behind a paywall.
  • Unsplash/Pexels: We love using these sites to seek out free, high-quality stock images. When it comes to stock, you do have to dig – just like you would do at Nordstrom Rack. But all that digging can be worth it!

Social Media

  • Buffer: Their site has a whole section dedicated to free tools. Unlike some of their larger counterparts (we see you Sprout, HootSuite, and HubSpot), Buffer is really digging in to support small businesses, which we love.

Email

  • MailChimp is an oldie but a goodie for nonprofits. Their free plan includes 500 subscribers, and up to 3,500 monthly email sends. Plus, the email design software is relatively easy to use.

Project Management & Collaboration

  • Slack: On Ideas is powered by Slack. Fun Fact: We have a channel for those of us who are obsessed with Sea Otters. You don’t have to pay for its all of its awesome gif and channel features. You can use it for free!

Continuing EducationYou can find a slew of free continuing education resources online. It seems like there are hundreds of new webinars popping up every week. Our favorite places to check are Hootsuite,Sprout Social, LinkedIn,  and AdWeek.
