What is TikTok Notes?
(And, is it more grammatically correct to write, What are TikTok Notes?)
We know what you’re thinking…just what the world needs: another social media app to keep up with.
A few months ago, TikTok announced that it would be testing (and releasing) a new photo-sharing app, Notes. The site has a graphic of photos with captions underneath, which have emojis after the text in the example.
Based on that description alone, one would guess that this is designed to rival the early version of Instagram, and you’d be right. If you’ve been paying any attention to performance on TikTok lately, static carousels have been doing very well, and TikTok is capitalizing on it with the launch of Notes.
But if you’re in the US, you shouldn’t expect to see it on your app soon. Right now, it’s being tested in select markets. Of the app, TikTok’s spokesperson says this –
“As part of our continued commitment to innovating the TikTok experience, we’re exploring ways to empower our community to create and share their creativity with photos and text in a dedicated space for those formats.”
The reality is that Notes could look very different when it launches than it does today. And TikTok may not even be a thing (dare we say it?) by then. There is buzz about it online, and it highlights the nostalgic trend of bringing back popular themes (hello, Kristen Wiig and Target).
