Look back through the 20th century and the great leaders who defined an era inspired hope, courage, and unity: Churchill, MLK, Ghandi, Mandela, Gorbachev.

Ask someone, ‘who are the great leaders in this century, thus far?’ and their answers are more likely to be tech innovators vs. how we’ve historically defined “leaders.” Gates, Jobs, Musk, Branson, etc.

Then in 2020, while the world was neck-deep in a pandemic, MacKenzie Scott donated billions of dollars to nonprofit organizations and causes with one goal in mind: to make the world better. In doing so, she single-handedly redefined philanthropy. 1,200+ nonprofits now have an accelerant to make lasting change.

“Helping any of us can help us all.” ~ MacKenzie Scott

Two months ago, many of us were introduced to President Zelensky who has repeatedly demonstrated off-the-charts courage. Amidst a seemingly hopeless situation, his determination is palpable.

In WWII, De Gaulle left France and set up a government in exile. Not this guy. He’s leading from the front and will fight to the end.

“People don’t really believe in words. Or rather, people believe in words only for a stretch of time. Then they start to look for action.” ~ Volodymyr Zelensky

Yes, Ms. Scott and President Zelensky are rewriting the rules. They’re also reminding people around the world that compassion, tenacity and resourcefulness never go out of style.

It’s pretty great to be living and experiencing that in real-time.

Cheers,

West
