Predator Cues, a brand preferred by professional billiard players for its high-tech pool cues, was launching a second brand, Poison, a more affordable option for the more recreational player featuring innovative and eye-catching design.
In an effort to ensure that Poison stood out from the competition through its design, the branding needed to showcase the design in an edgy and competitive way.
The “Looks Can Kill” campaign launched, with each pool cue line representing a deadly poisonous substance like Anthrax, Arsenic, VX (nerve gas) and Strychnine. To play off of the naming conventions, personality attributes of each cue line were represented by strong visuals to make user-associations with the product enhancements, like the textured, snake-like GTX grip on all VX cues and the tough, Hummer SUV appeal of the Anthrax cue line.
